ESW ND | Oct. 2013 blizzard Atlas was more than devasting from WY,SD,MT,ND. Up to 5" of rain fell first, then 60mph winds, turning to freezing temps then up near 48" of snow in areas. 70,000-100,000 cattle, sheep horses and other animals. Buildings, barns, trees and homes went down. Lives lost to suicide afterward and some during. The pictures are nauseating where, herds of cattle drifted in the storm, only to find dams, dugouts or rivers to fall into and drown. Many suffocated due to their nostrils freezing shut and due to hypothermia as well. Many had to be put down. | |
