Central Missouri | At 40 days the plant is initiating flowering and has taken up 3# of sulfur. You have to have it there and available. On early planted beans if mineralization is poor due to weather or low test or even high test with low mineralization you could be short. If your yield goal is 60 you may be o.k. If 80 maybe not. IMO you need some plant available sulfate early.
If your have a warm dry first 40 days and then get saturated and mineralization stops, sulfate sulfur fertilizer applied at planting could bridge the gap.
