Northeast Iowa | Talked to a guy who calves a cooperator herd for them. Their bulls were above the sale average last year, but haven't gotten a report from this past weekend's sale. "People always ask if we give the calves creep feed. I tell 'em, 'First, we let him stand up and get some colostrum, then we put creep feed out!'"
The cooperator cows have corn silage available 365 days a year. It still takes genetics to get to a 205-day wt like that. You just don't want to run out of jet fuel on the way there.
