Subject: RE: Snakes in the south

In parts of West TX the rattlesnakes are way too plentiful. You MUST watch carefully when doing shrub work up near the houses or recharging the AC units. Lots of little ones come up all the time. So far I’ve never seen any laying out on the concrete driveway. I’ll be barefoot at 4 am out looking at the stars but there’s plenty of lights shining where any snakes out in the open can be easily spotted.

I’ve had my fair share of up close, unwanted encounters with water moccasins. Some people claim they’re all bluff with no bite. You can’t safely say that about all of the moccasins, because I’ve seen and experienced different. Known of a kid who became deathly ill after being bit.
