I had that exact model of planter for years.  I assume your tires are like mine were and don't have the center rib missing (I think that came on later models).  I was in no till so there was plenty of moisture, and I always planted the beans as shallow as possible in the rows that got run over.  I'm talking like just barely under the surface.  Most would come up.  If they were 3/4'' deep the soil would pack around the seed so tight that the necks would often break trying to pull the cotyledons out of the ground.  Your soils may vary, as will the conditions in conventional tillage. My advice - get them deep enough to be in moisture and no deeper. Reduce the closing wheel pressure to the minimum setting. The transport tires running over them will seal in the moisture and those rows won’t dry out as quickly, giving the seed a chance to get started.
