Subject: Would this work?

central NM
Irrigated farm in central New Mexico. We are plowing out old alfalfa. We plant beardless winter wheat in September and graze it until March. In May we cut and bale the wheat in 4X4 bales. Since we are only just now working the plowed out ground would it be possible to plant a beardless wheat now and cut it for baling in August or September and follow that with winter wheat? I understand the vernilization process. Is spring wheat different? Does it not need a cold period? Hate to sound ignorant, but no one any where around grows wheat for grain. Thanks for your help.
