South Central Iowa | They can sorely disappoint in an actual drought. A great number of fields in Northern Missouri which yielded 170-200 bpa corn in 2017 were 30-100 bpa in 2018. They are still very susceptible.
Looking at the drought monitor though, I can't see how we would have a drought that could impact the prime areas of the corn belt this year. When the soil moisture profile is full, there will be a crop so long as it is planted, and I don't think anyone is much concerned about that. | |
