North Central Illinois | Thanks. I saw Shelby's advertised as having good standability when first released, but they're now listed as average. I've not worried about it the last few years and given up on oats as grain. I'm trying Sumo this year and plan to combine enough for my cover crop seed needs. I also ordered a couple bags of Reins to try, but they're SHORT in the trials, so that really doesn't work well for forage as a plan b.
I definitely have the worst standability on the more fertile ground. Even getting wheat to stand is a struggle where there's a heavy manure history. | |
