Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | I had AutoSense on a Deere 8310 and an 8120 when I was running AutoPilot through an Ag Leader Insight. The short stub cable can be a problem. The internal wires are very small and fragile. I had to swap out this short cable several times through the years. Mine were mounted on the left front but the right front should be fine. I think it may have been easier to run the main harness along the left side.
In an attempt to improve the situation I made an extension that consists of a Male Deutsch connector on one end and a Female Deutsch connector on the other to go in between the short stub cable and the tractor harness. This extension was a couple of feet long. I made this out of 18 gauge wire and placed it in a split loom for protection. I coiled up the Trimble stub cable and tied banded so that it does not need to flex. All the flexing is done within my homemade extension. Because the extension is made of heavier wire it should stand up better and if it should fail is quite easy to repair.
This did seem to lessen the need to swap stub cables. I no longer use Auto Sense since I have switched to SteerCommand. I do have a collection of stub cables which are of no use to me. Some are probably OK. Contact me if you have any interest - the price will be the cost of shipping. No guarantees.
