The biggest problem I can see with this is that your devices in the metal shop may be able to receive a signal from the WAP but not be able to get a signal out to it. The M2's are 2.4Mhz so setting up a bridge to a wireless router in the Shop that has both 2.4 and 5 is nice if the devices you are using at that end can use it. And yes there is some configuration required depending on what you want to do. Ubiquity has some pretty good instructions on their website that can walk you through the process.
