Subject: RE: how long do you let engines idle?

South Texas
Truckers love to let engines run, always trying to convice everyone else, while the company puts idle timers on. You sure your 90% figure isn’t cold starts and maybe a bit exaggerated?

Also commonly it is said an extreme amount of diesel is burnt at startup, you know, since most diesels now don’t even give a puff of smoke. I’m curious though about how long a 4450 or so would have to idle to burn what it does at startup.
