I was actually curious as to if there was a benefit. I had a Earth Science class a while back the UW and there was a lot of discussion about erosion and the effects of fields. My thought on this topic was that it you had a smooth surface there would be less wind resistance to pick up the fines in the soil. If you have a raised surface creating a higher profile it may slow the wind down but the increased force may pick up the fines and take them with the wind.


Come out to the "real" wind erosion area, aka the old Dust bowl stomping grounds. Drum type land rollers and chopping cornheads are pretty well non-existent.

You want your ground out here like a relationship on Jerry Springer: trashy, and rough.
