| centralillinois - 2/7/2019 13:25 An 8010 is capable of supporting a 12 row corn head and if you do hang a six row on it you might have to slow down the flow by retarding the vanes, changing sieves, and changing concaves. My combines previous life had a 12 head and when I went to an eight row a dealer suggested different modifications. As yields increase it may not be as important but a few years ago it made sense. If you irrigate and always run in a high yield environment you would have fewer issues keeping the combine full.
To a degree there is some merrit in changing settings for various flow rates but I think a lot of people worry about it more than need be. Biggest things to change are the rotor speed/concave opening and fan speed.
We carry a 12x20" on our 8010 at speeds from 3.5 mph (dad driving) to 6 mph and yields from 50 bpa up to 300 bpa.
Flow rate varies from sub 500 bph to 3000+
With yields that vary a lot across the field it is impossible to maintain a steady 3000 bph flow rate. We'd have to be traveling 24.75 mph to get 3000 bph in 50 bpa corn. Our 8010 won't even go 24 mph down the road.
