I owned a tire shop for 22 years . We never drilled one. Always weld a nut on it, take your 1/2" impact wrench and back it out, even if you gotta chain the axle up and drive it to the welding shop. They make a thread restorer for those. I had several in the shop. I never seen a helicol work in that app. Good luck with it.
