That said, have you considered your second statement? Don't get me wrong. Everyone should know their cost of production. Sometimes it helps us make a move to sell early in the year because it's showing a nice profit. But what if a scenario like what you're talking about comes up? You said yourself that your worst marketing years were because the board stayed near or under your cost of production. Sometimes you've gotta take what the board gives you. It doesn't care what your COP is. So wouldn't it be better when making grain sales to kind of divorce yourself from knowing your COP when it means that it's keeping you from making sales at seasonally advantageous times of year? | |
