Subject: 9510 combine EZ Steer Power Source?

West-Central Missouri
I am needing to install an ez guide 250/ Ez Steer in our 9510 Deere Combine. In our 40 series tractors I have just cut the cigarette lighter adapter off and connected directly to the battery post with a 2 wire cable and connector.
Is it best to run a new cable back to my batteries on that combine, or is there a good place to get power closer to the cab?
Also I have trouble with the ez guide system turning off when I hit the starter on the tractor. Is that common? I have the + cable connected at the battery bolt on the + post on the left battery and the - cable connected to bolt into frame

Thanks,
Greg
