Their end of year inventory showed a 700,000 decrease in sow numbers (how accurate that is compared to reality, I've no idea.) The reported liquidation is almost beyond comprehension. 2 things come to mind.. will they increase their imports when supply is drawn down, and who will they buy from??
Yes, yes, and yes. I think we are thinking exactly the same thing. Is there anyone other than the US to buy from? Talked to a neighbor last night that said we would be able to supply their pork needs and would feed more to make up the difference (he has no clue...) and that he didn't think it would affect bean demand. I asked him who was going to lay in these pigs and where, that's when things started to click. This thing could be huge. |
