Hardin County, IA | Just went through this the other day, It's my wife's car so I don't drive it much and it's been cold so she thought it just wasn't keeping up, anyway, we went to town after church and when stopped the heat would quit flowing after about 8-10 seconds of being stopped. Popped the hood and the overflow was low, Went to the auto parts store and got some Dexos, added half a gallon to the overflow and had my wife rev it up and down and moved the hoses up and down going to the heater core to get the air out on the drivers side. I could see bubbles coming up inside the overflow and after a minute or two of that it was working fine at an idle. I need to get it in the shop and flush the core because I'm sure it has a lot of sediment and trash build up inside.
