I’m no accountant but can’t you roll some of the 401k to an ira and then roll that to a Roth IRA? You probably can’t do the whole amount and will have to pay tax on it when it rolls to Roth IRA but you can use the principle in a Roth for whatever you please whenever you want penalty free.
