Lititz, PA | Copy the picture files to a USB flash drive or to a USB external hard drive, and then copy these to your new PC. The smartest move would be to periodically (maybe once-a-month) copy your important files (pictures, farm records, etc.) to a USB external hard drive. Remember that even your new PC can fail, and you should try to minimize the loss of important files.
USB flash drives up to 128 GB are not very expensive and USB external hard drives up to 5 TB also are not very expensive (1000 GB = 1 TB).
Just went through this myself as my 10 year old (Windows Vista) PC was dying, but I had been saving my important files to an external hard drive for a few years.
