Your example about your mother is nearly identical to me and my Mother. My Mother will be 98 in a couple weeks and is in a nursing home. She owns a little over 500 acres. I am designated her care taker and pay most of her bills. I and my son-in-law farm most all of my Mothers farms. The rent she receives from her farms is more than enough to pay all her nursing home and other expenses she has. Her nursing home bill currently is right at $80000 a year.
