I need a way to start and stop a 10 hp, 1phase motor from a distance. The motor powers a grain transfer auger between bins. I would prefer running power from main power supply directly to motor. However, the logical place to start and stop auger is 100-120 ft away. Is there a simple relay/ starting switch that can start and stop motor.? It could be powered by a small switch and light ga. wire , rather than running heavy ga. supply wire all the way to switch and back to motor. Any sugestions ?? TIA
Do you have a contactor wired in the circuit to motor now ? If not you will need a motor starter wired to the motor and then you can wire a remote switch to it as far as you want away, only need 10-16 gauge wire for the remote switch. Here is some reading about it.

Here's something like you need, 10 1PH requires a 50-65 amp starter or bigger.

And some directions for the remote switch.
