Subject: RE: Food grade soybeans

Near-north Ontario, French River
Yields will entirely depend on what varieties are available to grow. Here, SW Ontario, there are some food grade soys that will yield right up there with the latest RuP beans. As far as chemical programs, there are no restrictions as long as you stay on label,,, the common sense stuff like NO Rup Post on the beans, treat your food grades the same as you treat your non-gmo beans. Only real catch to food grade is that premiums are based on good quality CLEAN beans, by clean I mean no staining or dirt tag,, that means starting later in the morning and quitting earlier at night so that the beans don't get dirt( dust) tagged , clean weed free fields will eliminate staining. Its not nearly the management nightmare some folks make it out to be but you still have to manage the harvest differently. Clean out combine when going from Rup beans to food grade for instance..
