Subject: Crazy Idea?

I have been looking at purchasing some property to add to my current small farm. We have been raising angus cow/calf pairs now for 4 years and have done fine.
Now we are looking to get into backgrounding. We are looking to build new calf barn and auto feeders to raise around 800 calves a year. We have made contact with several dairys on purchasing the bulls to rise.
With this new adventure we would be spending a good bit of money and also quitting public jobs. Not only would we be doing the calves but we would also increase our current angus herd to around 200 cows.
Does or anyone or has anyone done anything like this? Or are we crazy for even thinking about doing this.
We are still young and are wanting to farm for a living. There are no growers or backgrounder's near us. The feedlots here purchase from out of state most of the time. What we are thinking is we would have a good market for it here.
Thanks
