| For some micro nutrients the soil lab test is considerably more effect at extracting them than plants are so its better to go to plant tissue tests for micro nutrients. 3 or 4 years ago ISU extension reported they weren't able to correlate plant responses to sulfur and soil tests. For decades before that they said Iowa didn't need sulfur because of sulfur from power plants. After that failure in correlation they said the only proper soil test was to add sulfur and see if the crop responded especially if had shown being short of sulfur previously by marks on the leaves.
