Subject: RE: Is fertilizer making my beans "lazy"

South Central MN
I have a bunch of low P (single digits) soils but K is in the 125-200 range, in my case would rather do 10-34-0 liquid or MAP for dry as 2X2 in beans, don't know how much they respond to K... In my experience they seem to be driven more by soil P levels.
No fertilizer before beans here, worst did 44-48 bu. on fields that tested very low, best was 58 bu. on field that tested high. Big difference if you ask me...
I don't know how much N it takes for beans to be "lazy" but think the less the better, guess if you want to try something out just do a blend of P and K at moderate rates and go from that? In 2017 I had some beans where I ran watered down 10-34-0 2X2 to get rid of it from corn, maybe had 2.5 GPA I put on and swore I could see the line where I ran out in the one field but didn't compare yield, Couldn't have been more than a bushel or two from the looks of it but might have been more.
