Did you not answer your own question in the next to last paragraph? No till no fertilizer low 30's and pulled your yield down.


First year field for me, was hay for years. South half was cut last fall and went 40's.

North side was foot tall grass when I planted, it was bad. Beans were foot tall, places the dirt was so hard trench didn't close and beans never grew. Despite the disaster it looked like, it sold me on notill. Just cant plant into foot tall live grass.....

I inoculate every bean I plant. Also only plant treated beans.


'Hay field for years' would be the first field I'd fertilize the beans on. Hay takes lots of nutrients off. Probably no way to put too much fertilizer on that field.
