I have been using cereal rye for a cover crop since fall of 2011. Beans in rye have been at least as good or better than no rye except last year. Last summer I think they rye held too much moisture. I have some pretty steep ground that even with terraces shouldn't be farmed without a cover. Nothing wins all the time, but out of 7 years, only losing 1 is pretty good. Patrick
