Collecting duties on imports & exports may be a legitimate function of government but the disclosing the details of that trade isn't necessarily automatic.
For example, the IRS collects taxes but they are prohibited from disclosing your individual tax information by law. Exporters could legitimately say to the government, "you can report the total value of all goods exported and the duties collected but you can't divulge the details, that's private information."
How many times has the USDA only reported statewide information because the number of companies is too few?
