68340 | As I continue to look at cover crop farming and reading how manure is used for part of the fertility I think of weed seeds in the manure.
Are those who apply cattle manure concerned about weed seed ?
Is all manure first composted to help kill some of the weed seed ?
Is poultry litter prefered or only used by some because of the weed free product ?
Is cattle mature and weed seed combination just he price to be paid for cover crop farming and increased soil health ?
Closest feedlot, Mid America, charges $1 to $0 /ton. Monday will get cost for hauling, spreading and fertility content/ ton. Normal to get cattle manure for free ?
Feed lot is 26 miles away. Currently ground not frozen, no application possible.
What am I not thinking/looking at about cattle manure ?
