South Central MN | Not too far away from me either. (I'm NW of where they farm 15-25 miles.) Sounds like they have been meeting malt grade but if corn goes higher might not compete as well, however they also have an on farm use for the straw so a little better paying alternative than some other small grains.
Would certainly love to see malt barley as an option in southern MN but right now think some kind of use of the straw will have to help your $ per acre. | |
