Coaldale, Alberta, Canada
Are you willing to grow other crops? What can you grow profitably? What we started to do here was take some land out of production every year (1 out of 6 or 7) and grow a full season cover crop mix. Way to many variables to be able to make a plan for somebody else's operation without knowing:

-financial situation
-owned vs rent
-mechanical ability
-willingness to look like an idiot when a crazy idea goes wrong
-local markets
-willing to go to 1/2 circle rotation?

We are looking hard at the livestock thing. Would complicate everything management wise, but from soil point of view, would solve a lot of problems. Are you sure you want to avoid livestock?
