Subject: RE: Heftys thoughts on banding

SE Iowa, Henry County
i wish i could strip till but havent found the time nor do i have the equipment and dollars. i look at bandiing as feeding pigs. years ago i welded a whole bunch of troughs in my basement and carried out those 10 footers to the hog lot. then i used 5 gal buckets to put in corn and water mixed together. the pigs came to the trough (band) and just stood there eating. some even laid down on their bellies eating away.. no energy was used to hunt or scavenge for food. banding fert follows the same strategy. can you imagine taking those same buckets of corn and water and throwing them on the lot. sure the stuff is there but its going to be more energy consumptive for the pigs to find. thats just my thoughts.
