First financial goal according to my banker should be to not have to borrow money to put out a crop. This makes a nice cushion for tough times. Sounds good and there may be some interest savings to pay off long term debt and borrow operating costs to the max...but then when there is a shortfall assets must be liquidated to cover operating costs. I have made it a goal of mine.

To the original ? I think it will vary a lot. Remember all the bank really cares about is getting their money back plus interests. The higher risks a guy is the more they want.
