Ok thanks. I suspect this discussion could easily be changed to a Precision Planting type debate. I do lots of other activities in a day and are in primarily dryland farming area. Like an et guage being a reverse rain guage, so is using irrigation tech in our "dryland" here in the rrv. I have heard water marks are accurate and inexpensive, they just leave alot more to be interpreted and learned by HAVING to be in the field (not that that is bad).

I like being able to see exactly where roots, soil temp, salinity and total soil moisture is every day. I think a lot can be going on in between 12" graduations.

Possibly if you knew how each area related to each other you could put watermarks in various spots with a more complete probe like sentek in the "base" spot.

Would you say that some of your confidence NOW is because of what you learned from when you used cropmetrics?
