So here's the issue sometimes with that stuff, what grade of stainless is it, typically stainless as we know it is 304, well sometimes those cats will slip in some 430, which is non nickel stainless, which can be more brittle because they replace the nickel with chromium and it has a higher carbon content, so welding that stuff can be kinda tricky, because the carbon will migrate to the weld and make it brittle.

Also in stainless on stainless welding it's all about speed of travel, hot and fast is better than hot and slow.
