Subject: RE: Liberty corn program

N.W. Illinois
Liberty is very weak on corn as well since corn is a grass. The growing point of the volunteer corn has to be out of ground to assure a good kill with Liberty. That is around V5-V6. The problem is volunteer corn will be at many different stages of growth because it is coming up at a variety of times. Also since the volunteer corn is so competitive a farmers instinct is to spray it early which doesn't work with the Liberty chemistry. Patience is called for. Spraying to early will result in a expensive respray. Unfortunately I know this from experience.
