Cheat reseeds itself, that's why if you depend on it for fall/winter grazing you need to be off those pastures here by May 1 to insure regrowth, however fully well knowing its going to be a fire hazard. So usually after a fire in say late June or July it all burns off the cheat will start back from seeds left on ground from previous years, But usually won't start to grow until fall rains come It all depended on your moisture year, might take until the next spring to get growth to graze the next fall.

I will try and get some pics this weekend if I can of winter grazing of natives and cheat as well as crested wheat grass grazing in winter. In higher elevations our cheat doesn't come on until mid June
