| I started back in 1986 as a college freshman because my organizational leadership class was offered extra credit to donate. I've continued since then averaging two or so donations a year. The Blood Bank of Delmarva used to be somewhat of a coop where you paid a small annual membership fee and had to donate or have someone donate for you when called. You could still receive blood if not a member but it was very expensive and insurance may not cover the cost. Obama care mandated that anyone could get blood and that insurance would pay for it which did away with the membership organization. While I was making my last donation I was easily the youngest donor there at age 50. | |
