Have a friend that I buy my calves from. He dairy farms and we are talking Holstein cattle. He has about 3-4 head that would fit in with my group of fattening steers. Couple are heifers that won't breed and one is a free martin. They have been implanted with Encore and are around the 800 pound range. Will take them to finish. Figured the easiest way would be paid for gain. What is a fair going rate tor cost of gain?
Have you had heifers in with your Holstein steers before? In my experience, heifers can cause issues when they come into heat with fattening steers. |
