Iowa | Going to chop every cut of 80 acres of alfalfa. Plan on doing it from this time forward for a number of years. Whats best method to store?
Have a spot next to my silage/earlage pit I could dig another narrow and long pit silo - Fill the back first cut then just keep adding to the front of the previous cut in the pit? Or is bags best choice for haylage? Don't really care for the extra work of dealing with plastic but I feel like it would just be best, but expensive also.
I'm tired of fighting weather for dry baling alfalfa and the one cutting of alfalfa we chopped last year was excellent feed and I really liked feeding it over dry hay so I foresee chopping from now on and am willing to get set up for the best storage methods but I cant decide which is best | |
