New Enterprise,Pa.
Their are a lot of variables in the weight of any size bale. Cutting being being baled, baler operation and whether the baler has the cutter option. We make mostly grass hay and most of it is baleage but if the opportunity to bale it dry we will. I have a NH BR baler with the cropcutter option and use it most of the time. We have weighed bales from both 1st cutting and later cutting. 1st cutting usually weighed around 850-900 and later cuttings always weighed right at 1000. And this was baled around 15-16% moisture. I believe the cutter makes the difference.
