Amherst WI | Some claim you can still pull it off without livestock. I can understand you can grow your N, and make P and micros available but I struggle with the K fairy coming to make things happen. I've seen what happens on "low input" farms that cut hay and don't fertilize much if any and have manure. K is very low. I realize this isn't exactly what the books say to do but it is fairly close to it when you have a 10 year old hay stand cut 3 times a year and manure on the farm.
So far these guys that claim the K just shows up after doing the regenerative stuff are all south of here, most of which got our "good" soil during the last glacial period. | |
