I used to use carryover seed corn since it all has plastic liners in it but now I just use bags of water softener salt.  Put about 6-8 40# bags on a pallet and take it out when the roads are fine and back in when it get snowy.  Doesn't matter if the bags get wet and they are pretty well sealed anyway.  Easy to load and unload with a forklift.
