NW Central Ohio | ...Powdery mildew is something you'll find everywhere. I don't know if anything but a 4 year rotation would be more effective for treating the "soil" you're growing them on. As for the plants themselves...you're going to have to learn to spray..and spray often depending on the humidity and temperatures. Like said ^^^ above...if you get 6 applications on of several different types of fungicide...you will help yourself tremendously. You should also focus on "downy" mildew. It has a different appearance on the plant...but it blows in from the South on prevailing winds. The extension services in each state maintain a network to instruct cucurbit growers when to start spraying for it in their respective areas...because you can't "control" it after it sets in...you can only "prevent" it from happening. | |
