NC Indiana
Yeah, I'll never forget when we restarted with cows (Dad had a few cows back when I was in grade school) - I know people got a good laugh out of it. We ran the straw on our wheat through the spreader and had a beautiful volunteer stand. Sent Dad to town to get some thin open cows to graze it, but bred cows were cheaper so we had a cow herd. Coming from hogs most of my life, we weren't cattle ready, but lots of neighbors helped us along the way. Agree, it will be a learning process and some animals will not work with this system and they can leave, but hard to not see how our ground has evolved/improved with the cattle being a part of our rotation. Before we added the cows, we were getting slop from a local dairy, and that helped, but something about the cows being on the field has a more beneficial effect - my experience/observation.
