Subject: RE: Cattle newbie, breeds, fencing, strip grazing, soil health ???

Fremont, NE
60 acre pasture is there if needed in crop growing season. Plenty of row crop ground with covers to use from Sept 1 thru till spring, I am open to taking different production acres out of rotation on a year to year basis to improve soil health with very diverse grazing mixtures and then graze. The long term benefits should pay out. Want a niche market but what that is is undecided depending on breed or other undecided factors. Was thinking 50-100 head, whatever it would take to responsibly rotational/strip graze 80-120 acres per year, therefore getting the cattle across most acres every 5-10 years or less.

Just open to suggestions and ideas at this point.

Married with two teenage daughters who love the farm and animals. I think they both have ideas of the ag realm later in life. Idea of them helping in this venture could be a great experience and maybe something for them to come back to the farm for down the road.
