Our corn basis is about -10h fob farm. Approx 140/ton. We haven’t feed a lb of corn for a year that I can remember. We run on hominy and screenings which run about 80% of corn value. Maybe we are giving up some performance, I don’t know.
I have this big 240hd pen, that isn’t practical in a backgrounding situation... at least not the way I’m currently doing it. I filled it with these heifers and am finishing them because I could lock down decent returns on a full pen, for 8 months vs a partial capacity backgrounding situation. They have performed well so far, very little health issues. Running right on schedule I think
