EC North Dakota | No close calls here but we fly out of an airport with a runway 2200’ by 40ish. It used to have a small shelter belt on the west side for maybe 600’, a road on the south threshold and tall corn on the north. The trees really made things interesting. Lift, then no lift, crosswind, then none etc. All that on a tiny runway, training in a 310 with runway lights, sometimes. :) Our spray pilot taught me far more in a few hours than my instructors did. Made landing in Fargo unbelievably simple.
We flew over Dallas and control kept vectoring us. He’d call and ask altitude and do you see the jet at xyz? Yep we got him. 30 seconds later same thing again, different jet, over and over. The last one was so close we could see the pilot. Control calls, watch for turbulence, yeah no sh—. :) | |
