North Central Illinois | I'm not as old as you but have similar memories. My brother and I spent a lot of hours turning that crank. It was most often a winter thing because Ice was easy to come by. Dad would go out and bust the ice out of a hog trough, put it in a give gallon pail, and bring it down to the basement for the ritual of making ice cream. We made ice cream in the summer occasionally but definitely it was more of a winter thing. Good memories and unbelievably good ice cream! | |
